Jake Read Contracting Ltd. is a local, Nanaimo-based contracting company built on reliable, high-quality workmanship from the first scoop of dirt to the final clean-up.
What started with a single skid steer, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to doing the job right has grown into a trusted name for patios, retaining walls, excavation, fencing, landscaping, and a wide range of other site and property services. Every project is approached with the same attention to detail, pride in craftsmanship, and respect for our clients’ properties.

Over time, Jake Read Contracting Ltd. has evolved from a one-man operation into a skilled, hands-on crew that values clear communication, efficiency, and consistency on every job site. We take ownership of our work from start to finish, ensuring each project is completed safely, cleanly, and to a standard we’re proud to put our name on.

Jake Read is the owner and head operator of Jake Read Contracting Ltd. Born and raised in Nanaimo, Jake brings a deep connection to the community, and a strong sense of pride to every project he takes on.
Known for his attention to detail and commitment to doing the job right, Jake is a dedicated, hands-on contractor who believes quality work starts with accountability and follow-through. From planning to execution, he remains closely involved in each project to ensure high standards are met and expectations are exceeded.
Outside of work, Jake lives in Nanaimo with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs, Willow and Marley. When he’s not on site, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, dirt biking, and exploring the outdoors - activities that reflect the same appreciation for hard work, balance, and the West Coast lifestyle that influence his approach to business.
